He was injured during the first period of the Bruins' 2-1 overtime win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

Stunning.

That's about the only word you can use to describe what happened to the Bruins in what turned out to be their final week of the season.

It's one thing to blow a 3-0 series lead and become the third team in NHL history, the fourth in the history of pro sports, to fall after leading 3-0. It's another thing altogether to take a 3-0 lead in Game 7 and blow that, too.

One more thing. A too-many-men penalty cost the Bruins the season, just as it did way back in 1979, when it happened in Game 7 against Montreal, with a trip to the finals on the line.

Stunning.

"Disappointed is an understatement," defenseman Johnny Boychuk said after the season ended for his team.
